99th Bihar Foundation Day begins on Tuesday
A seven-day exhibition on handloom and handicrafts and a three-day event showcasing cultural and historical heritage of Bihar will begin New Delhi on Tuesday to mark the 99th foundation day of the state.
"This exhibition would showcase Bihar's historical and cultural heritage. We have a glorious past and huge manpower of talented and hardworking people who prove their presence and talent across the world," C K Mishra, Principal Secretary, Department of Industry, Bihar, told media in New Delhi.
Addressing at the curtain raiser of Bihar Utsav 2011, Mishra said the Industry Department was organising a seven-day programme of "Bihar Utsav 2011 and Handloom and Handicrafts Exhibition cum Fair" from March 22 to 28 at Constitution Club, Connaught Place , and three-day cultural festivities and exhibition of cultural and historical heritage from March 23 to 25.
A seminar on "Bihar Vision 2030" on Culture, Human Resource, Business and Economic Development in Bihar will also be organised on March 26, he said.
Alok Vardhan Chaturvedi, Resident Commissioner, Bihar and Anshuli Arya, Managing Director, Bihar Industrial Area Development Authority were also present at the press conference.
In the handicraft exhibition, there will be around 25 stalls of handloom and handicraft, Bhagalpuri silk, Mithila paintings, siki products, stone made elephant of Bhabhua stone, jewellery from ship of Mahesi, Motihari terracotta products, jute products like jute jewellery, tikuli art, Nepura silk of Nalanda and famous handloom bed sheets of Biharshariff.
The Bihar government is also organising a three-day long Bhojpuri film festival featuring popular and path breaking movies of Bhojpuri cinema.
A special mega cultural event will be held on the concluding day at Siri Fort Auditorium, where famous singer Manoj Tiwari and Malini Awasthi and famous Kathak dancer Shikha Khare will perform on March 28.
